Kolavi Beach is also known as Kolavipalam Beach which is located at the south of the Murad River at a very short distance of 4 km from Kottakal which is adjacent to Payyoli Beach. This beautiful beach lies in the district of Kozhikode district in Kerala. It is one of the prominent beach is also identified as ‘turtle beach’. This beach is very renowned for the rare species of Olive Ridley Turtles which comes out to the shore in order to lay their eggs and again return. There is a nature conservation centre ‘Theeram’ started by the group of fishermen and other people from the village. The Olive Ridley Turtles are no ordinary turtles which are they are very famous and are endangered by sand mining etc.
