Kundala

Kundala is an arresting place, about 20 km from Munnar on the way to Top Station. It is at a height of 1700 meters above the sea level. It is situated at a distance of 20 kilometers from Munnar. In Kundala, cherries blossoms twice in a year. The acclaimed Neela Kurunji flowers which blossom only in twelve years, blossom in the hills and valleys about Kundala Lake.

Attractions

The fascinating artificial dam here in Kundala is a major attraction here. It is Asia’s first Arch dam. The boating experience at this dam is a wonderful experience and is absolutely beyond words. Boating facilities namely pedal boats, Kashmiri shikara boats and row boats are available on rent to make your trip more enjoyable. A Golf Course is also located here which belongs to Kundala lake, Munnar Tata Tea Ltd. Aruvikkad Waterfall is also situated nearby Kundala. The Sethuparvathi dam built in 1946 as a part of Pallivasal hydroelectric project is a sight to behold.

Beside these there are some other places near the dam and Kundala region which are beautifully blessed by the wonders of nature.

Munnar is one of the prime tourist destinations nearby is worth for all the travelers in Kerala. The Mattupetty Lake and Dam is another allure which is located short distance from the farm and is absolutely very renowned as a picnic spot.

Pothamedu offers magnificent view of the sprawling green tea, cardamom, and coffee plantations in Munnar. The magnificent hills, the lush mountains and the phenomenal scenery here is perfect for trekking and silent mountain walks.

Devikulam is an ideal hill resort with its velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain breeze is a unique experience. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is an ideal picnic spot and the enchanting lake is also very perfect for trout fishing.

As Kundala experiences a moderate climate throughout the year but however the best time to visit this spot is considered from August to May.
